With the obtainment of Department of Transportation funds, the City of Porterdale has embarked on a project to convert a historic rail car into public restrooms. Located along the Yellow River trail, the restrooms will be a great addition to this active recreation area.
Phase Two of the project will include the interior rehabilitation of the historic train depot which is currently a shell. The program includes incorporating space for an existing kayak rental facility as well as a visitors' center. All work will be performed to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Rehabilitation.
