Located on the marsh, the Lyons Residence is a custom designed house within a planned community in St. Marys, Georgia on a long narrow lot capitalizing on beautiful views of the water beyond. Designed to meet neighborhood guidelines for new construction, the house honors these requests as well as incorporates specific elements and features requested by the client. As a result, the house is harmonious with its surroundings, both built and natural, as well as unique and well-suited to its occupants. Elevated for protection and views of the marsh, the house has a raised first floor, numerous balconies, a full-width screened porch on the marsh facing facade, and low hip roofs with wide projecting eaves. The exterior paint was color matched to the Spanish moss hanging from neighboring oak trees, allowing the house to blend with its surroundings.
