JAKE KING, AIA Assoc.

Education:

Master of Architecture, The Savannah College of Art and Design, 2012

Bachelor of Fine Arts Architecture, Savannah College of Art and Design, 2011

Background:

A Savannah native, Jake has had life-long experience in all areas of residential construction, which provides him with a strong practical foundation in general construction techniques. He was one of the few students to participate in the former Architecture program at the Savannah Arts Academy and graduated in 2003. After working in the construction field for two years as an electrician’s apprentice, Jake chose to pursue an education at the Savannah College of Art and Design where he focused his efforts on the amount of energy buildings consume and  the future of sustainability within the construction industry. He wrote his thesis on Energy Generating Systems for Buildings, which includes the aesthetic integration of skin systems designed to generate electricity. He completed his Masters of Architecture in the Spring of 2012.

During the course of his education at SCAD, Jake received a minor in Electronic Design, which includes Building Integrated Modeling, visualizations, rapid prototyping, and building energy analysis. He exhibited the architectural installation “in a pinch” at both the Savannah Sidewalk Arts Festival in 2010 and for the Ted Talk Creative Coast in 2010. His minor in Electronic Design makes Jake a valuable asset to the team  by understanding the ever changing tools that are adopted by the architecture profession and integrating them into professional practice.

After initially working for LKSA as an Intern from 2012 to 2015 and several other local firms within the Savannah area, Jake rejoined the team at LKSA in the Spring of 2018. At LKSA, Jake provides support with new digital building technologies and streamlines the design process from conceptualization through Construction Documents. He is knowlegable in many realms of commercial construction and has award-winning residential design experience. He specializes in creating digital models of historic buildings, 3D client visualizations, project management and generating construction documents.
