Designed by Hyman W. Witcover, Savannah's City Hall has consistently served Savannah since its construction in 1906.  Recognized by its Renaissance Revival style and gilded dome, City Hall was the first building constructed by Savannah residents to serve as the exclusive seat of municipal government.

While minor alterations and maintenance has been provided, no major restoration projects have been completed since 1987.  Interested in preserving the interior public spaces, the City of Savannah has commissioned an interior assessment, preservation plan, and maintenance schedule of City Hall so that they can better preserve one of the National Historic Landmark District's most prominent buildings.  Work is funded in part by a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Historic Savannah Foundation, and the City of Savannah.
